Wear ranges
Factory New 0.00–0.07, Minimal Wear 0.07–0.15, Field-Tested 0.15–0.38, Well-Worn 0.38–0.45, Battle-Scarred 0.45–1.00.
Why it matters for price
Lower wear usually costs more, and very low floats within a wear can carry a premium.
Not every skin has every wear
Some finishes have a limited float range, so certain wears don't exist for them.
Float, exterior and pattern are different
Float describes wear. The exterior is its named wear band, while the pattern seed controls texture placement on finishes that use a pattern. Two Field-Tested skins can therefore look different despite sharing the same market name. Inspect the exact listing rather than relying on its catalogue image.
How to compare wear correctly
Compare the same weapon, finish and edition first. Then compare floats inside that exterior and inspect visible scratches on the parts you care about. Factory New is below 0.07; at 0.07 the next band begins. Minimal Wear ends at 0.15, Field-Tested at 0.38 and Well-Worn at 0.45. An item's own minimum and maximum float can exclude entire exteriors.
Low float and collector value
A very low float can interest collectors, but it is not a fixed bonus added to every skin. The finish, scarcity, visible appearance and demand all matter. A low float within a wear band does not automatically make the item more valuable than another finish. Compare exact variants and use Flexible for an individual review when collector characteristics matter.
When selling CS2 skins, your float can affect the price. Compare the same weapon, finish, exterior and edition. An AWP Asiimov is not a comparable listing for a different AWP finish, and a StatTrak AK-47 Redline is a different edition from the normal skin. Load your inventory on cs2trading.gg and review your offer; choose Flexible for an individual assessment of an unusual float. When buying CS2 skins, inspect the actual listing rather than relying only on catalogue artwork.
