Every Case Hardened skin has a pattern seed that decides how much blue it shows.
Blue gems
Patterns with mostly blue are called blue gems and can be worth far more than regular patterns. Expensive patterns are best sold with Flexible so our team can review them.
Blue placement matters, not just the amount
Case Hardened combines blue, gold and purple areas. The pattern seed determines their placement on the model. Collectors assess which surfaces carry blue, how clean the coverage is and how it looks during play. A blue patch on a hidden surface is not equivalent to the same coverage on a visible blade or receiver.
Why seeds cannot be compared across models
The same seed number maps the texture onto different weapon shapes differently. An AK-47 pattern ranking does not classify a Karambit, Five-SeveN or another knife. Verify the weapon model, pattern seed and actual appearance together. Float remains a separate characteristic and can change visible wear without changing the seed.
Blue Gem tiers are community classifications
Blue Gem is a community name, not an official Steam rarity or a separate in-game finish. Tier lists describe a particular model using the author's criteria. Their coverage and rankings can differ. A tier claim should name its model and source; a seed alone does not establish a universal tier, guaranteed premium or final sale price.
A practical inspection checklist
Confirm the full item name and wear. Read the pattern seed from the exact listing, open its inspect link and examine both visible sides under comparable lighting. For gloves, inspect both hands and the exposed fingers and knuckles; do not use knife tier labels as glove classifications. Keep the listing details available when requesting an individual valuation.
How to sell a collector pattern
Load your inventory and select Flexible for an individual conversation with our team. Review the actual items and the agreed total before accepting. If an item is removed or a Steam offer cannot complete, follow the updated sale details instead of an earlier selection total. The final agreed and received items determine the completed sale.
