CS2 agents guide — the most popular operators and what makes them valuable

What agents are

Agents are the character models you see in a match. They replace the default Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist models and are equipped per side in your loadout. Like weapon skins, they are cosmetic and do not change hitboxes or movement. Agents were introduced with Operation Shattered Web and expanded in later operations, so most of them belong to an operation collection with a fixed rarity.

The Professionals: Darryl and Number K

The Professionals are among the best-known Terrorist agents. Sir Bloody Miami Darryl, with his hockey mask and tropical shirt, is one of the most recognisable models in the game, and the Darryl variants – Silent, Skullhead, Royale and Loudmouth – each have their own following. Number K is a sharp, suited Professional whose clean look makes him a favourite for players who want something stylish rather than loud.

Counter-Terrorist favourites

On the CT side, Special Agent Ava (FBI), Cmdr. Mae 'Dead Cold' Jamison (SWAT) and Lt. Commander Ricksaw (NSWC SEAL) are popular high-rarity choices. Many players match their CT agent with gloves or a knife in the same colour family. Because CT and T agents are equipped separately, collectors often own one favourite for each side.

What drives agent prices

Rarity, how long ago the operation ended and demand from content creators all matter. When an operation ends, no new copies of its agents enter the game, which tends to support prices over time. Popularity spikes when a famous player or streamer uses an agent. As with every item, check current listings for the exact agent before you buy or sell.

Patches

Some agents can carry patches – small decals on the uniform, similar to stickers on weapons. Rare patches can add value, but most buyers price the agent itself first. Read our guide on stickers and charms to understand how applied items affect value.

Selling or buying agents

Agents trade like any other Steam item: you need a trade link and Steam Guard. Load your inventory on the Sell page to see a live price, or browse the market to buy the operator you want. Remember that agents, like skins, are covered by Steam trade protection after a trade.
