CS2 trade hold and trade protection explained

Trade hold

Steam can lock recently received items for several days. Locked items show as not tradable and can't be sold until the lock ends.

After you sell

After a trade, your balance can stay locked until Steam's protection period has passed, then it's released for withdrawal.

Trade hold, cooldown and Trade Protection

A trade hold delays delivery in a Steam trade. A cooldown prevents an item from being traded again until its displayed date. Trade Protection is Steam's separate system for recently traded CS2 items. Read the exact status in Steam: these terms describe different states and should not be used interchangeably.

What a locked balance means here

Steam controls the item status; cs2trading.gg controls your sale balance. After confirmed receipt, the sale amount appears as locked balance with its release date. The protection period and any approved early release are tracked on the sale. Available, locked and referral balances are shown separately, so you can see what can be withdrawn and what can be used for skins.

Follow the dates on your own trade

Do not calculate availability from when you first selected an item or opened a page. Follow the Steam offer status and the release date on the completed sale. A failed offer is not confirmation of receipt. If Steam shows a restriction, use its official support guidance and contact our team with the sale reference.
